Report: Liverpool transfer for 25-year-old target hits obstacle despite medical in progress

Liverpool’s hopes of signing Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi have been thrown into doubt.
The Eagles had been pushing to secure a suitable replacement before allowing their captain to leave, but their efforts have fallen short. According to The Times, Liverpool had already agreed a fee with Palace and were ready to wrap up the deal, but the move has now stalled.
Although Guehi has already begun his medical with the Reds, Palace may yet decide to block the transfer and keep hold of the 25-year-old. Missing out on the England international at this late stage would represent a huge setback for Liverpool, who are eager to strengthen their back line.
Guehi himself is keen to make the switch, with the chance to compete for trophies at a top club proving highly appealing. With only a year left on his contract, Palace risk losing him for free next summer if they do not cash in now.
The south London side’s struggles to bring in a quality replacement remain the main obstacle, and with just hours left before the transfer window closes, Liverpool face a tense wait to see if the deal can be pushed through.
