ROAD BLOCK: A big twist to Moises Caicedo move to Chelsea as another club submit bid to sign the Chelsea target
Chelsea have been handed a huge twist in their transfer pursuit of Moises Caicedo this summer as an “unidentified” club have submitted a bid for the midfielder this summer, per reports.
The Blues have been following a move for the Ecuadorian international for some time now, having missed out on a transfer for him back in the January transfer window. With a whole host of exits in the months following, attention toward restocking the midfield has seen Caicedo back on the radar
According to football.london the 21-year-old midfielder is a top priority for the Blues, but a recent bid of £80million was rejected by Brighton. The Seagulls appear to value the youngster at around the £100million mark, with a new long-term contract signed earlier this year.
With the Premier League season starting next week, the Blues would have hoped for a deal sorted earlier this summer, but at the very least before the opening game with Liverpool. However, negotiations thus far have only seen approaches swatted away and the price increase.
However, according to The Athletic, an “unidentified” club have lodged an offer for Caicedo this summer in competition of Chelsea’s move. The bid is believed to be above that of the Blues’ most recent £80million one, potentially turning up the heat on their pursuit of the midfielder.
