Liverpool icon Robbie Fowler has delivered a sharp critique of Darwin Nunez after the forward’s lackluster performance in the Reds’ 4-0 FA Cup third-round win over Accrington Stanley at Anfield.

Speaking on the Uruguayan’s struggles, Fowler said:

> “We’re still saying the same things now that we were two or three years ago – he’s raw, he’s this, he’s that. We can’t keep making excuses. The more I watch him, the more I think he’s not a Liverpool player.

> “People might criticize me for saying this because he works hard, but hard work should be a given. You’re brought in to score goals. While he’s a fan favorite for his effort, you have to deliver better performances in a Liverpool shirt.”

Despite providing an assist for Diogo Jota’s opener, Nunez failed to make an impact in front of goal, missing all five of his attempts. So far this season, he has registered 4 goals and 3 assists in 25 appearances.

Fans have also voiced their frustrations, with some comparing his output unfavorably to Jayden Danns, who scored in just ten minutes during the same match. Additionally, Feyenoord manager Arne Slot has called on Nunez to improve his consistency, suggesting a sale may not be off the table.
