Ruben Amorim reportedly has two key players who play a crucial role in the Manchester United dressing room as he prepares to take over at Old Trafford. With his £8.3 million release clause activated, Amorim has signed a contract through 2027 and will officially begin his tenure on November 11, succeeding Erik ten Hag.

Before he steps in, Amorim will oversee two more games for Sporting, including a match against Manchester City, while Ruud van Nistelrooy remains interim manager. Amorim’s first match as United boss will be against Ipswich Town on November 24.

According to a recent report from Sky Sports, United’s hierarchy believes Amorim can get the best out of the squad’s costly signings. Two players, in particular—his fellow Portuguese Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot—are seen as pivotal figures for setting the dressing room’s standards.

Fernandes, who captains United, is known for his relentless work ethic on the field, while Dalot was one of United’s most consistent performers last season and was praised by Cristiano Ronaldo as a “top professional.”

Amorim is expected to operate within a limited January transfer budget, focusing on developing United’s current squad. The Guardian notes that young players Alejandro Garnacho, Rasmus Hojlund, and Kobbie Mainoo are deemed untouchable and won’t be sold under any circumstances.
