Scott McTominay has opened up about his emotions regarding his summer move from Manchester United to Napoli. The Scotland international, who spent 22 years at Old Trafford after joining the academy at age five, reflected on the life-changing decision in a recent interview with The Times.

McTominay, who moved to Napoli in a £25.7 million deal, admitted it was difficult to leave his boyhood club but emphasized he has no regrets. “It was a huge decision for me and my family,” he said. “At moments like that, you just have to ask yourself, ‘Do I want to do it?’ and go for it. There’s no looking back. I’ve never had any regrets in my life or career, and I’m staying true to that. My goal is to be the best footballer and person I can possibly be.”

Despite Erik ten Hag’s reluctance to part ways with the midfielder, financial constraints under the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules led to McTominay’s departure. Since arriving in Italy, the 26-year-old has hit the ground running, making ten appearances for Napoli and scoring three goals.

McTominay attributes his smooth transition to his ability to block out external distractions, such as media criticism. “I don’t read newspapers or social media. The past is the past. I’m focused on enjoying my football and pushing my team up the table while giving my best for my manager.”
