Six Liverpool players are at risk of missing out on a Premier League winner’s medal, including one who will not play again this season.
Liverpool currently hold a 13-point lead over Arsenal in the Premier League title race.
Federico Chiesa is among several Liverpool players at risk of missing out on an automatic Premier League winner’s medal, alongside teammates Tyler Morton and James McConnell.
Liverpool moved closer to securing the title on Wednesday, with goals from Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister sealing a 2-0 victory over Newcastle.
With 10 games left in the 2024/25 season, Arne Slot’s side hold a 13-point lead over second-place Arsenal. While most of Liverpool’s squad have already qualified for a winner’s medal by making at least five league appearances, a few players, including Chiesa, remain short of the requirement.
Chiesa, who joined from Juventus last summer for a reported £12.5 million, has played only three league matches this season—against Bournemouth, Brentford, and Ipswich—leaving him two appearances short of eligibility.
Other players likely to miss out include reserve goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros, who has made just one appearance—his Premier League and Liverpool debut in a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace in October. Tyler Morton, Trey Nyoni, and James McConnell have yet to feature in the league despite impressing in cup competitions.
Meanwhile, Jayden Danns, currently on loan at Sunderland, is four appearances away from qualification, meaning he won’t meet the automatic criteria. However, he could still be awarded a medal at the club’s discretion.
According to Premier League rules, the title-winning club receives 40 commemorative silver medals (2.25 inches in diameter) to distribute among players, staff, and officials, provided every player with at least five appearances gets one. Additional medals require Premier League Board approval and are only granted if more than 39 players meet the five-appearance threshold.
Liverpool’s next league fixture is against Southampton on March 8.
