Mikel Arteta may need to prepare his Arsenal squad for Liverpool’s visit without three key players due to injury issues.

The upcoming match carries significant pressure, as a victory for the Reds could put them seven points ahead of their title rivals.

A trip to the Emirates Stadium is no small challenge for Arne Slot’s in-form team. However, their nearly flawless start to the 2024/25 season (with only a 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest as a setback) gives them ample confidence to extend their lead at the top of the table.

Arsenal is facing a triple injury setback ahead of the game against Liverpool.

It would be a major disappointment for Mikel Arteta and his squad if they are without the talents of Bukayo Saka, Riccardo Calafiori, and Jurrient Timber. The absence of Calafiori and Timber was anticipated, especially following the Italian’s knee injury sustained during a Champions League victory over Shakhtar Donetsk.

Now, Sky Sports reports on X (formerly Twitter) that all three players were absent from training leading up to Liverpool’s visit on Sunday.

Reports from Italy, as shared by CaughtOffside, indicate that the injury affecting the 22-year-old defender is not as severe as initially thought. However, it remains unrealistic for him to return in time for this weekend’s match.

Timber may still be a potential option, despite being omitted from the Netherlands squad during the international break and Arsenal’s latest European match.

Unfortunately for Mikel Arteta, Bukayo Saka’s hamstring injury appears to rule him out of the upcoming title clash at the Emirates Stadium.

Liverpool Injury Update: Five Players Unavailable

Alisson Becker
Injury: Hamstring
Liverpool’s Brazilian goalkeeper is confirmed to miss the trip to north London this weekend due to a long-term injury.
“He’s making good progress, but it’s not a quick recovery,” said Arne Slot. “It’s challenging to gauge the timeline for his return. The best assessment comes at the end of his rehabilitation, and he’s not there yet. Don’t expect him back for the Brighton match or next week.”

Harvey Elliott
Injury: Fractured foot
There was some hope that the England youth international would be fit to train before the previous match against Chelsea. A return to the pitch in November now seems most likely for the 21-year-old.

Diogo Jota
Injury: Upper body bruising
The Portuguese forward sustained injuries during the 2-1 victory over Chelsea last weekend and has been ruled out of the match against Arsenal. This absence likely means Darwin Nunez will keep his place in the starting lineup.

Federico Chiesa
Injury: Fitness issue
Arne Slot mentioned that Federico Chiesa might have a chance to train on Friday, potentially allowing him to see some playing time on Sunday.

Conor Bradley
Injury: Fitness issue
The Northern Ireland international is expected to return to team training on Saturday.
