Sky Sports has released a significant update regarding Liverpool’s transfer situation, with Richard Hughes aiming to finalize another deal.

The transfer activity is heating up, and Liverpool seems poised to benefit this week.
Reports from the Portuguese outlet A Bola indicate that Crystal Palace is nearing a deal for Ousmane Diomande. His expected arrival from Sporting Lisbon likely signals the departure of their top defender, Marc Guehi, who has been linked to Anfield.
Guehi’s current contract runs until the summer of 2026, presenting a chance for Liverpool to make a move.
While Palace values Guehi at around £40m-45m, Liverpool may be more comfortable negotiating in the £30m-35m range. However, optimism surrounds the potential deal, with Liverpool reportedly entering new discussions about Guehi this week.
Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg has also confirmed that advanced talks are underway for the 24-year-old.
If Diomande does join Crystal Palace, it suggests they might be more willing to align with Liverpool’s valuation for Guehi.
The report from A Bola suggests that Palace is eager to capitalize on Guehi’s value before his contract expires in a year. Given that he’s interested in moving, a transfer to the Premier League champions could be appealing.
One challenge is the presence of Virgil van Dijk’s main partner, Ibrahima Konate, whose own contract is also expiring. It remains uncertain whether Konate will sign an extension at Anfield.
This situation opens the door for Guehi to compete for a starting position with the English champions, a rare opportunity indeed!
