Thiago Silva’s fury is justified as Chelsea’s weak mentality resurfaces against Luton

Chelsea earned 3 points today, but Thiago Silva was left looking furious at full time.

After taking a 3-0 lead, the team allowed Luton to score twice and make the final moments incredibly nervy.

We’re happy to see that sort of reaction. Results are what matters, but performances are what get you results, and just because we escaped from conceding a third today doesn’t mean what we saw was good enough.

This is Luton Town and we’re playing with a 3-0 lead. We should be able to lock down a game easily, and Silva knows it. He did his part, with a few vital blocks in the game, but too many of his teammates didn’t do their part.

He’s used to playing with top players with top mentalities against top teams. As recently as two years ago we were rock solid and perfectly organised. It’s amazing how quickly we’ve lost that structure.
