I Can’t Quit: Trevoh Chalobah reacts after being banished from squad by Mauricio Pochettino
Reports today have claimed that Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah has been deemed surplus to requirements by new boss Mauricio Pochettino.
The 24-year-old has been sidelined with a hamstring injury and will make a return in late September.
Trevoh Chalobah has shared a cryptic message on his Instagram account following reports he will be allowed to leave the club in January.
The academy graduate broke into the team under former boss Thomas Tuchel, but Chelsea’s signing of Axel Disasi from Monaco, coupled with the rise of Levi Colwill and last season’s signing of Badiashile and the injured Wesley Fofana, has seen Chalobah drop down the pecking order.
The 24-year-old was made available for sale but his initial £50million asking price was deemed too expensive for suitors who were interested.
Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel, who gave Chalobah his debut in 2021 at Chelsea, was willing to sign the defender on loan, but the move failed.
Chalobah has now posted a video on his Instagram story, with a caption which reads: “Hey God, I ain’t gonna lie man, I’m tired. But I can’t give up right now. So whatever you want me to go through, let’s do it. I came too far so I can’t quit.”
