Tottenham fans get fresh update on what’s now ‘likely’ to happen with Heung-min Son’s future.
Journalist Dean Jones has shared what he’s been hearing from his sources about Heung-min Son’s future at Tottenham, shedding light on whether the club captain is more likely to stay or move on this summer.
Son’s future has become a hot topic recently, with conflicting reports surfacing following renewed interest from Saudi Pro League clubs. Earlier this week, Football Asian reported that the South Korean forward is leaning toward staying at Spurs for now, with any potential move to Saudi Arabia or the MLS likely to happen next summer, after the 2026 World Cup.
However, other outlets have since suggested a departure could happen sooner. TBR Football even reported that new head coach Thomas Frank would be willing to let Son go if he isn’t prepared to accept a reduced role in the squad.
Even trusted journalist Alasdair Gold recently stated that Son is now closer to a Tottenham exit than at any other point in the last decade.
Dean Jones has now added to the speculation, stating that while no final decision has been made, the most probable scenario is that Son will leave this summer.
Speaking on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast, Jones said:
“Tottenham still need to make a call on Heung-min Son. There’s definitely a chance he leaves — nothing is set in stone yet — but right now, I’d say a transfer looks likely. The only realistic option seems to be Saudi Arabia, and I’m not sure that’s an ideal move.”
Adding to the uncertainty, Thomas Frank’s first official interview raised eyebrows. The new Spurs manager didn’t mention Son among the players he’s eager to work with, instead highlighting Dominic Solanke, Rodrigo Bentancur, and James Maddison — a move that suggests Son may not be central to his plans.
Still, any transfer won’t happen immediately. Due to contractual obligations, Tottenham are expected to include Son in their upcoming pre-season tour of Asia.
