According to Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Bologna have a draft agreement in place to sign Gil, with the deal negotiated by Fabio Paratici. The 24-year-old is set to join initially on loan, with an option to buy next summer that becomes mandatory if certain conditions are met.
The Italian side are now working on personal terms with Gil, but his wage demands—just over €2m (£1.7m) a year—are proving steep for Bologna.
A club official is currently in London to assess the Spaniard’s recovery from a knee injury, and Bologna will monitor him closely before giving the final green light.
Interestingly, Transfermarkt lists Gil as having only one year left on his contract, though recent rumours suggest Tottenham may have quietly extended his deal to safeguard his value.
