Trent Alexander-Arnold’s contract with Liverpool is set to expire this summer.
The English defender is reportedly in advanced negotiations with a prominent European club for a move once his Liverpool deal ends, and it isn’t Real Madrid.
Currently, Alexander-Arnold is said to be discussing a new contract with Liverpool as his existing deal approaches its conclusion next summer. However, with both parties struggling to finalize an agreement, rumors have emerged that the 26-year-old is contemplating a switch to La Liga giants Real Madrid instead of extending his time at Liverpool.
Recent reports indicate that Alexander-Arnold is indeed in advanced talks with another major European club for a summer transfer. According to Spanish magazine SPORT, he has turned down multiple contract offers from Liverpool, signaling his intention to leave this summer.
While Madrid is considered a strong possibility for the defender, as they view him as a potential successor to the 32-year-old Dani Carvajal, the report also highlights that Alexander-Arnold is in advanced discussions with French champions Paris Saint-Germain.
Although PSG already has one of the world’s top right-backs in Achraf Hakimi, they are exploring additional options as the Moroccan’s contract runs until 2026.
Despite the speculation, Alexander-Arnold has kept his future plans close to his chest, avoiding revealing any details about his negotiations with Liverpool or other clubs.
In September, he stated, “I want to win trophies. I’m motivated by winning and being elite; that’s my main goal. I’ve always said I want to captain the club, but whether that happens is beyond my control. I want to be a Liverpool player this season, at the very least.”
He added, “I’ve been at the club for 20 years now and have signed four or five contract extensions, none of which were made public. This one won’t be either.”
