Updated information has emerged regarding Eberechi Eze’s release clause and Crystal Palace’s valuation of the player.

Amid reports that Tottenham Hotspur are advancing talks to sign Eberechi Eze, journalist Alex Crook has offered a notable update on the midfielder’s release clause.

Fabrizio Romano reported on Tuesday morning that Eze is open to joining Spurs, provided they can agree a fee with Crystal Palace. Journalist Dean Jones added that Tottenham already have a clear picture of Palace’s valuation after discussions over the past week.

These claims assumed Eze’s release clause had expired, meaning Spurs would need to negotiate directly with Palace. However, Crook has contradicted this, revealing that the £68 million clause is still active and will remain valid until Friday, 15 August.

If correct, Spurs could bypass negotiations by triggering the clause before the deadline, or alternatively work out a different payment structure with Palace afterward.

Journalist Ben Jacobs also noted that even if the clause lapses, Palace will still demand £68 million for Eze. While the 27-year-old is interested in joining Arsenal, he has not ruled out Tottenham, and Thomas Frank’s side are reportedly ready to act quickly to secure his signature.
