Viktor Gyökeres has dropped a strong hint about the club he hopes to join, amid significant transfer interest in the Sporting Lisbon forward.

The striker has netted an impressive 32 goals across all competitions this season. However, his omission from the starting lineup in Sporting’s Champions League loss to previously winless RB Leipzig on Wednesday raised questions.

The official explanation was fitness concerns, limiting the 26-year-old to just 35 minutes as a substitute. Despite this, he still managed to score his 32nd goal of the season, although Yussuf Poulsen secured a late winner for Leipzig.

Gyökeres has previously stated his intention to finish the season with Sporting before deciding on his long-term future during the summer. However, it seems increasingly likely that his future lies away from Portugal, as he is regarded as one of the best strikers in the world right now.
