Vinicius Jr Addresses the Drama: Real Madrid’s Boycott of the Ballon d’Or Ceremony Unveiled!

Vinicius Jr Speaks Out: Real Madrid’s Bold Boycott of the Ballon d’Or Ceremony Explained!
Vinicius Jr has shared his thoughts on social media following his decision to boycott the 2024 Ballon d’Or ceremony.
The Real Madrid forward, who had a remarkable season winning both La Liga and the Champions League, was among the frontrunners for the prestigious award. However, it was announced on Monday that he, along with teammates and club officials, would not be attending the event in Paris.
The boycott seems to be a reaction to reports indicating that he was not awarded the prize, which is determined by votes from 100 journalists from FIFA’s top nations. There were also claims that Vinicius had arranged a private flight and party for the occasion.
While he did not make a formal statement, Vinicius responded to a post from former teammate Toni Kroos on Instagram. Kroos shared two photos of them together with the caption “The best,” in light of news that Vinicius did not win the Ballon d’Or. Vinicius commented simply, “I love you Antonio!!”
Earlier reports from Spanish outlet MARCA suggested that Vinicius was expected to win the award until unexpected news changed the outcome.
Real Madrid won the Team of the Year award after their successful campaign under Carlo Ancelotti, but they had no representatives present to accept it. The ceremony quickly moved on after acknowledging their achievement.
According to AS, Real Madrid is outraged, perceiving this as a blatant disrespect. A source stated, “If the criteria for the award do not name Vinicius the winner, then they should have awarded it to Carvajal. Since this did not happen, it’s clear that the Ballon d’Or and UEFA do not respect Real Madrid, and Real Madrid will not be where it is not respected.”
Meanwhile, Manchester City’s Erling Haaland also opted to skip the ceremony, choosing instead to watch a league match featuring Swedish side Malmo against Goteborg.
