Arne Slot has confirmed that Jeremie Frimpong will be sidelined for at least two weeks after picking up a hamstring injury, admitting the player is “not in a good place.”

Speaking ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Brentford on Saturday night, the Dutch manager shared updates on several key squad members.

“Jeremie is not in a good place,” Slot explained. “By that, I mean he definitely won’t play today, tomorrow, or next week. It’s a hamstring issue, so it’ll take some time.”

The news is a setback for Liverpool, as the 24-year-old had been in fine form since joining from Bayer Leverkusen for £30 million during the summer.

Isak and Gravenberch injury updates

Slot also revealed that Alexander Isak and Ryan Gravenberch remain doubtful for the weekend trip to the south coast.

“Alex isn’t doing too badly — we’ll see how he is before the weekend,” he said, adding that the same uncertainty applies to Gravenberch, who missed the midweek trip to Germany.

Before the Frankfurt match, Slot explained: “I had to take Ryan off at the weekend because he was limping a bit, as everyone saw. Unfortunately, he’s still not ready.”

Alisson still out

Alisson Becker remains unavailable for selection. “Alisson won’t be in the squad tomorrow,” Slot confirmed. “That one will take a little longer.”

With the Brazilian still recovering, Giorgi Mamardashvili is expected to continue in goal, with Freddie Woodman likely providing backup on the bench.

Frimpong’s setback

Frimpong’s injury is particularly disappointing after his bright start at Anfield. The right-back was forced off in Germany, prompting concern that it might be a hamstring issue.

Pundit Ally McCoist commented on TNT Sports that night: “It looked like a hamstring problem. For quick players, that can mean up to six weeks out.”

Liverpool will be hoping Frimpong’s recovery is much quicker — and that the club’s growing injury list begins to clear soon.
