Thomas Frank expressed disappointment with Tottenham’s second-half display in Wednesday night’s goalless draw against Monaco.

Spurs endured a frustrating evening at Stade Louis II, with goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario producing several impressive saves to deny the hosts victory, while chances at the other end were limited. Despite the struggles, Tottenham maintained their unbeaten run in the Champions League after three games, earning a point from the contest.

Speaking to SPURSPLAY, the Head Coach admitted frustration over the team’s lack of intensity after the break but praised Vicario for his outstanding performance.

“We’re definitely learning in the Champions League, especially away against a strong Monaco side. It doesn’t surprise me that they performed well today,” Frank said.

“It was a relatively even first half, but Monaco were better in the second. We didn’t reach the performance level we wanted or play with the required intensity. There were too many individual mistakes and misplaced passes. That happens sometimes, but it was a contrast to our last game against Aston Villa, where we were strong, intense, and Vic had nothing to do. This time, he was called upon nine times — far too many — but he was fantastic tonight.”

“The players were determined to defend the goal and did their best, but sometimes you don’t hit the desired level. On nights like that, taking a point and keeping a clean sheet is still positive. At the moment, I’m disappointed with the performance, especially in the second half, but we’ll learn from it. Playing in the Champions League requires constant growth and improvement.”
