Tottenham player ratings vs Everton: Van de Ven and Vicario shine as Bentancur delivers a strong display

There is something about playing away from home that brings out the best in Tottenham in the Premier League. No team in the top flight has earned more points on the road (13) this season, and Spurs remain the only side yet to suffer an away defeat. Their excellent and spirited display, which handed Everton their first-ever competitive loss at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, was a perfect mix of attacking precision and defensive discipline.

It was also the ideal response to their midweek Champions League scare in Monaco, where they faced 23 shots on goal. Tottenham took the lead after 19 minutes when Mohammed Kudus delivered a corner to the back post. Rodrigo Bentancur headed it back across goal for Micky van de Ven to turn home. Spurs’ dominance at set-pieces continued before the break as Pedro Porro’s curling corner was glanced in by the stand-in captain for his second of the match. Since the start of last season, only Arsenal have scored more Premier League goals from corners than Tottenham (15).

Pedro Porro – 7
Made a crucial block to deny Jack Grealish early on and put in a firm challenge on the Manchester City loanee. Assisted Van de Ven’s second goal and was solid defensively throughout.

Guglielmo Vicario – 8
Produced a stunning save to deny Beto’s acrobatic attempt and another brilliant stop to keep out Iliman Ndiaye’s deflected shot. Commanded his area with composure and confidence.

Kevin Danso – 8
A strong performance from the Austrian. Marked Beto well, winning all six of his duels, and handled Everton’s physical threat superbly.

Micky van de Ven – 9
Headed home twice from corners in the first half and defended with determination. Nearly diverted a cross into his own net but otherwise immense throughout.

Djed Spence – 6
Faced a tough duel with Ndiaye, who tested him with quick footwork. Held his own defensively but was occasionally troubled.

Joao Palhinha – 8
Formed an excellent partnership with Bentancur in midfield. Won tackles, blocked shots, and intercepted play effectively. One of his best performances in a Spurs shirt.

Rodrigo Bentancur – 8
Teed up the opening goal and dictated play in midfield. Worked tirelessly, drove the team forward, and displayed high technical quality.

Mohammed Kudus – 8
Sharp and creative in a central role. Drove at defenders and posed a consistent threat. Justified his inclusion with a lively performance.

Xavi Simons – 6
Struggled early with a misplaced pass but recovered to grow into the game before being substituted on the hour.

Brennan Johnson – 6
Helped relieve pressure with intelligent dribbles and crosses. Not heavily involved but contributed quietly in attack.

Randal Kolo Muani – 7
Looked composed leading the line. Linked play well and showed strong hold-up ability. A promising full debut.

Richarlison – 8
Nearly scored moments after coming on and set up Pape Sarr for the third goal. Made an immediate impact off the bench.

Lucas Bergvall – 7
Showed maturity after coming on, making key interceptions and composed passes under pressure.

Pape Matar Sarr – 9
Capped the win with a late header and put in a strong all-round display. After a spell out of the team, this performance reaffirmed his importance to Thomas Frank’s side.
