According to Football Insider, former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown revealed on 20 October that Liverpool’s hierarchy have growing concerns over Slot’s leadership amid this poor run. After the Brentford loss, frustrations have resurfaced and questions are being asked about the team’s recent collapse.
On 24 October, Football Insider reported that Slot is “one defeat away from crisis” at Anfield, suggesting that another setback could intensify scrutiny over his future. Despite that, sources close to the club maintain that he is not currently under direct internal pressure.
Speaking on Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, it was noted that while Slot retains “credit in the bank” after winning the Premier League last season, recent results have raised doubts. The midweek victory over Eintracht Frankfurt was meant to spark a turnaround, but that momentum quickly faded with the defeat at Brentford.
“It’s a crucial period for Liverpool,” the podcast explained. “Results dictate everything. Regardless of who you are — even a title-winning manager like Arne Slot — poor performances will bring pressure. Liverpool spent heavily in the summer and were expected to challenge strongly again, but the last few weeks have exposed cracks.”
Slot’s tactical decisions have come under fire, with many fans and pundits questioning his recent choices. Reports also claim the Dutchman is concerned about several of his key players’ form. Mick Brown added that Slot has “major concerns” about the performances of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, who have struggled to meet their usual high standards.
