Son of Former Premier League Star Could Be Handed Liverpool Debut After Brilliant Display Against Everton U21s

But he’s not the only exciting talent — Keyrol Figueroa, son of former Premier League defender Maynor Figueroa, is also generating major buzz.
Born in 2006, Keyrol is a quick, skillful centre-forward making significant progress through Liverpool’s academy. Having joined at U14 level, he debuted for the U18s as a 16-year-old in 2021/22 and has since become a prolific presence in front of goal. Arne Slot is said to be closely monitoring the youngster’s development as he pushes toward senior contention.
A Legacy to Live Up To
Keyrol’s father, Maynor Figueroa, is remembered for scoring one of the Premier League’s most spectacular goals — an audacious 60-yard lob against Stoke City that remains iconic to this day. Now 42, Maynor still plays Sunday League football with Wythenshawe FC alongside former professionals like Danny Drinkwater and Emile Heskey.
Meanwhile, Keyrol is carving out his own path. Once netting 90 goals in a single year at youth level, the young striker can play both through the middle and on the right flank. Internationally, he represented the USA U17s, scoring seven goals in seven matches at the CONCACAF U17 Championship before finishing runners-up to Mexico.
This season, the Honduran-born forward has continued his fine form, bagging five goals in seven Premier League 2 matches, including a memorable hat-trick against Everton in a 4–1 Merseyside derby win. Reflecting on that performance, he said:
> “This means a lot to me, especially after how things have gone recently. Sometimes I’ve played, sometimes I haven’t, and injuries have been tough. I just had to stay focused and keep working. Against Everton, it was a proud moment — but I couldn’t have done it without my teammates.”
Keyrol’s humility and work ethic have earned him admiration within the club. He has already trained alongside stars like Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and new signing Alexander Isak, further fueling speculation that a senior call-up could come sooner rather than later.
The teenager cites Didier Drogba, Sergio Agüero, Luis Suárez, and Fernando Torres as his inspirations — a fitting list for a striker hoping to follow in Liverpool’s illustrious attacking lineage.
While promotion to the first team is never guaranteed, Keyrol Figueroa is undoubtedly one of Liverpool’s brightest prospects.
