Gary Neville urges Arne Slot to instantly drop two Liverpool players

Liverpool duo Conor Bradley and Milos Kerkez are currently proving to be a problem for the Reds, and Gary Neville believes Arne Slot will continue to see the same disappointing results if he keeps selecting them.

The Merseyside club are enduring a rough patch, having suffered four consecutive Premier League defeats. After a flying start that saw them win their first five matches and look like early title favourites, Liverpool are now sliding down the table and risk falling out of the title race.

Their latest setback came in a 3–2 loss to Brentford — a team known for its inconsistency — with Slot’s men once again struggling to handle physical opponents and set-piece situations. The team’s defensive fragility shows little sign of improving.

Gary Neville: “Slot Has to Drop Kerkez and Bradley”

Speaking on The Gary Neville Podcast, the former Manchester United defender warned that unless Slot makes changes, Liverpool’s poor form will continue:

“If he keeps playing Kerkez at left-back and Bradley at right-back, and they keep being as exposed as they are in midfield, the results will stay the same. Every week it’ll feel like flipping a coin — wondering whether you’ll win or lose.”

Neville’s comments highlight the need for adjustments, with players like Joe Gomez and Dominik Szoboszlai capable of stepping in for Bradley, while Andy Robertson is pushing for a return on the left side.

Liverpool next face Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday before hosting Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday. With injuries to Ryan Gravenberch and Alexander Isak adding to Slot’s concerns, it remains to be seen whether he will shake things up amid growing pressure for improvement.

While Kerkez and Bradley aren’t solely to blame for Liverpool’s slump, their defensive struggles have become increasingly apparent — yet Slot has so far been reluctant to rotate his back line.
