Fabrizio Romano reveals what Liverpool chiefs ‘really think’ about Arne Slot behind the scenes amid the team’s poor run of form.
Arne Slot continues to have the full support of Liverpool’s hierarchy despite the team’s disastrous run of form over the past month.
According to Fabrizio Romano, who shared an update on the situation, the Liverpool head coach still enjoys total confidence from the club’s leadership, even after suffering a fourth straight Premier League defeat last weekend. That result saw the defending champions fall to seventh in the table, seven points behind leaders Arsenal.
While there have been questions about the attitude of some senior players and even rumours of dressing room tension, Slot remains focused on finding solutions to Liverpool’s growing problems.
Romano: Liverpool chiefs maintain strong belief in Slot
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano revealed that the Liverpool board remains fully convinced that Slot is the right man to turn things around and that there are no internal disputes which might trigger a managerial change.
He explained:
> “Internally, the Liverpool hierarchy, the ownership, and everyone at the club completely trust Arne Slot. They’re 100% sure he’s the best manager to handle this moment.
It’s been a disappointing start to the season, but they believe everything will improve in time. Slot is still assessing the squad and adapting the new signings, but the club has full faith in him.
There’s strong daily communication between the management, directors, and Slot. There are no problems or bad relationships between the players and the coach. Everything is under control – it’s more about tactics and mentality than any internal conflict.”
Slot has the qualities to steer Liverpool back on course
While Slot has faced criticism for some of his tactical and selection decisions in recent weeks, suggestions that his job is under threat are unfounded.
He has already proven his ability with last season’s Premier League title success and has handled several challenging situations at Anfield — including contract uncertainties involving Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, as well as leading the squad through the emotional aftermath of Diogo Jota’s passing.
Although the current slump has been severe, there’s still plenty of time left this season for a turnaround. As seen with Ruben Amorim at Manchester United — who was close to the sack just a month ago but now has his side pushing for a Champions League spot — football fortunes can shift quickly.
Slot has shown before that he’s capable of doing just that for Liverpool.
