Son Heung-min says he “can’t wait” to return to Tottenham as he opens up about his excitement for a long-awaited reunion with the club.
Tottenham legend Son Heung-min has revealed that he plans to return to London to bid a proper farewell to Spurs supporters. The Europa League-winning captain ended his decade-long spell in north London this summer, completing a £20 million move to MLS side LAFC in August.
Son’s final appearance for the club came in Seoul during a pre-season friendly against Newcastle, where he left the pitch in tears to a standing ovation as both teams formed a guard of honour. Speaking in an interview with Shoot for Love, the 33-year-old confirmed he is already preparing for a return to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to personally thank the fans.
“I definitely think this is the right time to say, because at the time the transfer was going on and the last game was in Korea, obviously I will go back to London to see all the Spurs fans,” Son explained. “I think I deserve to say goodbye in front of all of them, and they deserve to see me in person to say goodbye. It’s going to be a very emotional day, but I definitely can’t wait to go back to London and see all the Spurs fans.”
Son has yet to confirm when he will make the trip back to England, with LAFC currently preparing for the MLS Cup play-offs against Austin FC. The South Korean forward has quickly adapted to life in the United States, scoring nine goals and providing three assists in his first ten appearances. In September, he netted a hat-trick in a 4-1 victory over Real Salt Lake.
During the summer, Tottenham allowed Son to decide his own future, and he chose to leave after guiding the team to Europa League glory in Bilbao—calling it the perfect moment to end his chapter with the club.
Following his move, Son’s arrival in Los Angeles sparked a surge in merchandise sales. Within two days of signing with LAFC, he became the top-selling athlete for jersey sales across the Fanatics Network, second only to Lionel Messi of Inter Miami for the entire 2025 MLS season.
