Thomas Frank is preparing to make changes to his squad ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s League Cup clash with Newcastle United. With Spurs involved in four major competitions and facing a busy fixture schedule, the head coach is focused on balancing his lineup to keep players fresh.

Tottenham travel to face Carabao Cup holders Newcastle on Wednesday, but Frank is also mindful of Sunday’s Premier League meeting with Chelsea. Speaking in his pre-match press conference, he acknowledged the need for rotation following their 3-0 win at Everton over the weekend.

“That’s the challenge. It’s one game, so there’s more at stake. I changed four from Monaco to Everton and three before that. Of course there’ll be rotation — playing every third or fourth day, you can’t use the same XI if you want to compete across 60 games. That’s part of the fun of being head coach,” he said.

Frank did not reveal which players will feature, though injuries may influence his choices. He shared encouraging updates on Cristian Romero, Destiny Udogie, and Dominic Solanke, confirming that all three are progressing well but without specifying if they will be involved at St. James’ Park.

“All good from the guys that played Sunday. Dom’s stepping forward, step by step. Cuti was on the pitch today — no timeframe yet. Destiny on the pitch as well. Three steps forward,” Frank noted.

With defensive options limited by injuries to Romero and Radu Drăgușin, Frank may turn to some younger players or fringe members of the squad to fill in. The upcoming match presents an opportunity for rotation while still maintaining competitiveness against a Newcastle side also expected to make changes.
