“Adjust and handle it”: Rio Ferdinand criticizes Arne Slot for making “poor excuses”

Rio Ferdinand has hit out at Arne Slot for making “bad excuses” instead of fixing Liverpool’s issues on the training ground.

The former Manchester United defender believes Slot should focus on solutions rather than complain about opponents targeting Liverpool’s weakness with long balls.

“You want managers to be open, but if you’re a Liverpool fan you’re probably thinking, ‘why is he saying all this?’” Ferdinand said on his YouTube channel.

“The excuse about teams going long against us doesn’t wash. There are many ways to play football — it’s not just about tiki-taka. If a team plays direct and wins, it still counts.

“If you’ve got Van Dijk, Konaté, and top-class full-backs, you should be able to deal with that. Adapt and find a way to handle it. Win the first ball, get your midfielders in position for the second ball — that’s what the Premier League is all about.

“Right now, with four defeats in a row, Slot’s saying his side can’t cope. But they need to figure it out.”
