Oliver Glasner will be missing one of his key players when Crystal Palace face Liverpool in the Carabao Cup tomorrow night.

The Eagles make the trip to Anfield hoping to deepen Arne Slot’s woes after the Reds’ fourth straight Premier League defeat to Brentford on Saturday. It was Palace who started Liverpool’s poor league run with a 2-1 win at Selhurst Park late last month.

Glasner, who led Palace to FA Cup glory last season, confirmed that Chris Richards will sit out the game due to a calf issue. The American defender has featured in every Premier League minute for the south London side so far this campaign.

“We’ve just one problem — Chris Richards has a small issue with his calf, so he won’t be available for the trip to Liverpool tomorrow,” Glasner told Liverpool.com. “Everyone else is fit and has recovered well. The players showed great energy at the Emirates, pushing for an equaliser until the end, so that’s encouraging.”

Palace will aim to bounce back from their narrow 1-0 loss to Arsenal, and with attacking threats like Jean-Philippe Mateta, Ismaila Sarr, and Adam Wharton, they’ll look to exploit Liverpool’s fragile defence.

The Reds haven’t kept a clean sheet since beating Burnley 1-0 in mid-September. Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté have looked uneasy together at the back, while Arne Slot continues to search for his ideal full-back duo — with Milos Kerkez still settling in after joining from Bournemouth and Jeremie Frimpong sidelined by injury.

All eyes will be on Slot’s team selection, as the Carabao Cup presents Liverpool with a prime chance to claim some much-needed silverware this season.
