Oliver Glasner has confirmed a significant injury setback for Crystal Palace ahead of their upcoming cup tie against Liverpool.

Oliver Glasner will be without one of his most important players when Crystal Palace face Liverpool in the Carabao Cup tomorrow night.

The Eagles head to Anfield aiming to deepen the Reds’ troubles, with Arne Slot’s men having suffered their fourth consecutive Premier League defeat against Brentford on Saturday.

It was Palace who first triggered Liverpool’s poor run of league form after their 2-1 victory at Selhurst Park late last month.

Glasner, who led Palace to FA Cup glory last season, has revealed that Chris Richards will miss the trip to Merseyside due to injury. The defender has featured in every minute of the Premier League campaign so far.

“We’ve just one issue: Chris Richards has a slight calf problem, so he won’t travel to Liverpool tomorrow,” Glasner told Liverpool.com. “Everyone else is fit and has recovered well. The players showed at the Emirates that they’re in good shape and kept fighting for an equalizer until the very end, so that’s encouraging.”

Palace will be hoping to respond after their narrow 1-0 loss to Arsenal last weekend. Jean-Philippe Mateta, Ismaila Sarr, and Adam Wharton are among those capable of troubling a Liverpool defence that has looked fragile in recent weeks.

The Reds haven’t managed a clean sheet since their 1-0 win over Burnley in mid-September, with Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté struggling to find rhythm together. Arne Slot also faces ongoing problems at full-back, as Milos Kerkez has yet to impress since joining from Bournemouth, while Jeremie Frimpong remains sidelined through injury.

The Carabao Cup could provide Slot and his side with a much-needed chance to regain confidence and push for an early piece of silverware this season.
