Reports: Liverpool and Man City are both monitoring the situation of a 28-year-old England star closely.
Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa could become one of the most sought-after names in the Premier League this January, with several top clubs lining up for his signature.
The 28-year-old has been a standout performer for Unai Emery’s side, earning praise for his composure, consistency, and leadership at the back. His impressive form has also seen him cement a place in the England national team, where he now has 16 caps.
Konsa’s strong performances have been central to Villa’s defensive solidity under Emery, attracting interest from some of England’s biggest clubs.
Liverpool, Manchester City, and Tottenham Hotspur are all said to be monitoring Konsa closely, according to sources close to the player’s camp. Liverpool had explored a move in the summer but turned their focus elsewhere. However, with Crystal Palace demanding a high fee for Marc Guehi, Konsa has now reappeared on their radar as a more attainable option.
Tottenham are also keen to strengthen their defensive ranks due to Cristian Romero’s ongoing fitness concerns, while Manchester City are assessing long-term defensive options for future rotations or potential departures.
Chelsea, Newcastle United, West Ham, and Crystal Palace have also expressed interest, as they each look to bolster their backline options.
Aston Villa, however, are not eager to sell. Konsa remains under contract until 2028, which gives the club strong negotiating power. But with financial regulations (PSR) tightening, Villa may be forced to consider offers. Selling a homegrown player like Konsa would count as pure profit in accounting terms, helping balance their financial books.
The Midlands club reportedly value him between £40 million and £45 million, reflecting both his quality and his importance to Emery’s system.
While Villa would prefer to keep one of their most dependable defenders, financial pressures could see Konsa at the centre of a major transfer battle this January.
