Liverpool make decision on Arne Slot’s future following Crystal Palace defeat
Liverpool have reportedly reiterated their backing for Arne Slot despite a dismal run of results that has seen the reigning Premier League champions lose six of their last seven matches and crash out of the Carabao Cup.
The Reds’ latest setback — a 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at Anfield — has only intensified pressure on Slot, coming just months after he guided Liverpool to their first league title since 2020.
However, BBC Sport reports that the Anfield hierarchy remain calm and fully supportive of the Dutch manager, insisting there is “no chance” his position will be reviewed at this stage.
Tension has grown among supporters in recent weeks as Liverpool’s alarming dip in form continues.
After a strong start to the season, the champions have now lost four consecutive Premier League games, slipping to seventh in the table and falling seven points behind leaders Arsenal.
Their Carabao Cup elimination to Palace — the sixth defeat in seven outings — has only deepened concerns about the team’s lack of rhythm and consistency.
Slot, who took charge in the summer of 2024 after leaving Feyenoord, earned widespread acclaim for steering Liverpool to a historic title in his debut season. But his second campaign has been far more turbulent, with the heavy home defeat to Palace exposing defensive weaknesses, blunt attacking play, and a visible drop in confidence.

Despite growing criticism from fans and pundits, Liverpool’s owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), continue to back Slot fully. According to BBC Sport, the board believes he still has “plenty of credit in the bank.”
It’s understood the club recognises the wider context behind the slump — including the summer overhaul of the squad, new signings still adapting, and injuries disrupting consistency.
Given his achievements in his debut season, Slot is believed to have earned patience and trust from Liverpool’s hierarchy as he looks to turn the situation around.
