Alan Shearer has cautioned that Liverpool’s hopes of defending their Premier League title could be all but over if they lose to Aston Villa this weekend.
Speaking to Betfair, the former Newcastle United striker said:
> “If they lose on Saturday, I don’t see them in the title race. But if they win, gain confidence, and start building momentum, they’ve got the quality to go on a strong run. Saturday evening is massive — another defeat, and I think they’re out of it.”
Liverpool head into the game on the back of four straight league defeats and trail leaders Arsenal by seven points. While the gap isn’t impossible to close, the Reds urgently need to turn things around to keep their title hopes alive.
