Thomas Frank addresses the chances of James Maddison featuring for Tottenham before the season ends

Thomas Frank has offered an update on James Maddison’s recovery and the likely return date for Dominic Solanke, as Tottenham continue to battle a lengthy injury list.

Spurs now have over ten players sidelined, a situation almost as severe as last season’s injury crisis. However, thanks to improved squad depth, the impact has not been as damaging, and Frank insists he will not blame injuries for any setbacks.

James Maddison remains one of the long-term absentees after tearing his ACL during pre-season. Although some reports suggested he could miss most of the campaign, the midfielder has recently shared encouraging rehab progress, raising hopes of an earlier return.

Speaking to Football.London, Frank was asked whether Maddison might feature before the end of the season. He replied:
“Will he play this season? I’m not sure – maybe. The injury happened on August 3 and typically, it’s around nine months out, unless recovery goes quicker. We’ll know more after Christmas.”

Frank also delivered less positive news on Dominic Solanke. The striker underwent ankle surgery a month ago, with initial expectations that he would be back after the November international break. However, he is now set to miss the North London derby against Arsenal on November 23.

Asked if Solanke could start that game, Frank said:
“It’s very unlikely. After being out for three or four months, no one comes straight back into the starting XI. He’ll probably return from the bench first, and we’ll build him up from there.”
