“He’s reached a new low” – Tottenham fans slam Xavi Simons after his poor display against Chelsea

Tottenham offered little threat in attack as they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Chelsea in a tense London derby.
Thomas Frank would have been furious with his team’s poor display, as Chelsea ruthlessly exploited Spurs’ weaknesses. Apart from goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, who stood out with an impressive performance, the rest of the squad struggled — including their number seven, Xavi Simons.
Simons, who almost joined Chelsea in the summer before Tottenham swooped in, frustrated supporters with another disappointing showing despite the club’s heavy investment in him. The Dutch midfielder came on as a substitute for the injured Lucas Bergvall but was later taken off himself after an uninspiring 66 minutes, having lost possession 15 times.
Former Premier League star Matt Le Tissier told Football Insider that Tottenham should continue to back Simons despite his slow start. However, many fans have already lost patience, expressing their frustration online. One supporter remarked, “The only other player I’ve seen subbed on and then subbed off for being that bad was Rudzani Ramudzuli. Xavi Simons has hit a new low.” Another added, “He probably regrets picking up that call from Tottenham.”
Right now, the decision to bring Simons to north London appears to be backfiring, with one fan saying, “Xavi Simons might be the most useless player I’ve seen in a while — and we’ve had plenty.” Another commented, “He looks great at first glance, but the stats tell a very different story.”
