Arne Slot provides an update on Alexander Isak’s injury as three players are confirmed unavailable for the Real Madrid encounter

Arne Slot has confirmed that three Liverpool players will miss Tuesday night’s Champions League clash against Real Madrid due to injury.

During Monday’s pre-match press conference, the Reds boss provided an update on Alexander Isak, Jeremie Frimpong, and Alisson Becker — all of whom remain sidelined.

Speaking via liverpoolfc.com, Slot said:

> “All three are not available for tomorrow. Jeremie and Alisson will also not be available for Sunday [against Manchester City]. With Alex, we have to wait and see. He’s definitely not starting on Sunday, but maybe he can be involved in the squad. He is still not training with the team, so we have to wait and see.”

Earlier in the day, journalist Paul Joyce had already hinted at mixed news from Liverpool’s Kirkby training session — Curtis Jones returned to training, but Isak was notably absent.

Alisson and Frimpong also missed the weekend’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa, with the latter describing his injury layoff as “really annoying” on social media.

Isak’s absence is especially disappointing, as the £125m striker had only just regained full fitness before picking up a groin issue in the win over Eintracht Frankfurt two weeks ago. Slot remains hopeful the Swedish forward could return to the squad for the upcoming clash with Manchester City.

Meanwhile, reports suggest Frimpong is expected to be out until early December, while Alisson — who has already been sidelined for five weeks — is targeting a return after the international break.

Liverpool will be hoping that the upcoming pause in fixtures allows key players to recover in time for their first match back against Nottingham Forest on November 22. Having Isak even on the bench next weekend would be a big boost for Slot’s side, especially with Erling Haaland set to lead the line for Pep Guardiola’s team.
