Destiny Udogie identified as the footballer allegedly threatened at gunpoint by his agent, Tottenham Hotspur confirm in official statement
Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that defender Destiny Udogie was allegedly threatened at gunpoint by his agent.
The 22-year-old has been identified as the Premier League player involved in an incident that led to the arrest of a football agent in London. The confrontation reportedly took place on September 6 in Barnet.
A Tottenham spokesperson told The Sun:
> “We have been providing support for Destiny and his family since the incident and will continue to do so. Given this is a legal matter, we cannot comment any further.”
According to police, officers were called at around 11:14 p.m. after reports that a man in his twenties had been threatened with a firearm on Cockfosters Parade. Investigations later revealed that another man had also been blackmailed and threatened by the same suspect.
A 31-year-old man was arrested on September 8 on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent, blackmail, and driving without a licence. He has since been released on bail as inquiries continue. No injuries were reported.
The incident occurred during the September international break, when Udogie was sidelined from the Italy squad while recovering from a knee injury. He returned to action a week later, featuring in Spurs’ 3–0 Premier League win over West Ham.
So far this season, Udogie has made 10 appearances in all competitions, including Tuesday’s Champions League victory over Copenhagen. Since joining Tottenham from Udinese in 2022, he has played 76 matches, scoring twice and providing four assists.
The Italian full-back signed a new contract in December 2023, extending his deal until 2030, and was part of the Spurs team that lifted the Europa League last season — the club’s first major trophy in 17 years.
