Xabi Alonso urges Real Madrid to target key Liverpool and Chelsea players following their Champions League loss at Anfield.

Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso has reportedly handed the club a shortlist of four midfield targets — including stars from Liverpool and Chelsea — as he looks to strengthen his squad following their 1-0 Champions League defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.

Alexis Mac Allister scored the decisive goal in that game, and his performance seems to have caught Alonso’s attention. According to Fichajes, the Spanish coach is now eager to bring the Argentine to the Bernabéu, identifying midfield as an area in need of reinforcement.

The report claims that Real Madrid had previously targeted Martin Zubimendi before his move to Arsenal, but Alonso’s focus has now shifted to Mac Allister, Enzo Fernández, Adam Wharton, and Vitinha.

While prising Mac Allister away from Liverpool would be difficult given his importance to Jürgen Klopp’s side, Alonso views him as the kind of all-round midfielder who can control the game and bring balance to Madrid’s lineup.

Meanwhile, Fernández, Wharton, and Vitinha are also seen as strong candidates, though Vitinha’s status at PSG may make him the least attainable. Statistically, Mac Allister stands out for his defensive contribution, making him perhaps the most complete option for the role.

For Liverpool fans, the prospect of losing another key player to Madrid — after Trent Alexander-Arnold’s summer exit — would be a painful one.
