Heung-min Son responds after Micky van de Ven replicates his Puskas-style goal for Tottenham

Heung-min Son may now be playing in MLS, but the former Tottenham skipper has delivered a three-word response to Micky van de Ven’s sensational solo goal.
Van de Ven’s incredible run and finish against Copenhagen has been the talk of the football world, and rightly so. The Dutch centre-back showed off his blistering pace, strength, close control, and composure, driving from his own half, gliding past defenders, and slotting home with ease.
That stunning effort takes his tally to six goals this season, making him Spurs’ leading scorer — an impressive feat for a defender.
Son reacts to van de Ven’s wonder goal
Tottenham fans have seen this kind of brilliance before — from Gareth Bale in his prime and from Son himself, who produced a near-identical solo goal against Burnley in 2020, a strike that won him the Puskas Award.
The comparisons came quickly, and Son has now responded to van de Ven’s goal on Instagram with a simple reaction:
“wow.. Just wow.”
Van de Ven’s goal threat this season
With six goals already, the Dutchman believes there’s more to come. The record for the most goals by a defender in a top-flight season is 24, set by Lothar Kobluhn in 1970/71.
Van de Ven sits 18 goals away from matching that tally, and 19 from beating it — but the immediate target will be to hit double digits.
Spurs have yet to reward him with a new deal, but based on his outstanding form, a contract extension surely needs to be high on the club’s priority list.
