It’s a fixture rooted in friendship, shared memories, and unforgettable nights – but this time, the spotlight might fall on who isn’t confirmed to appear rather than who is.

Liverpool have announced that their Legends team will face Borussia Dortmund Legends at Anfield in March 2026, with all proceeds once again going to support the LFC Foundation, as confirmed via Liverpoolfc.com.

The match will come nearly ten years after that iconic 4–3 Europa League comeback against the same opponents in 2016 – one of Anfield’s greatest modern nights.

The event will raise funds for both the LFC Foundation and the BVB Foundation, backing community initiatives focused on health, education, and employment in Liverpool and Dortmund alike.

Matt Parish, chief executive of the LFC Foundation, said:

“Our annual legends match is always a special day, and we’re thrilled to welcome BVB to Anfield. These games celebrate our shared history and football heroes while helping us continue our life-changing community work.”

Tickets are already available for season ticket holders and All Red Members, with general sale beginning on Friday, November 7.

Naturally, fans are already asking one big question: Will Jürgen Klopp be there?

As an honorary ambassador for the LFC Foundation, his involvement would make perfect sense – whether presenting the cheque or simply taking the applause from the Kop. Last year, Klopp himself said:

“The LFC Foundation does an incredible job in the community… I’m really proud to continue my work with them.”

However, any appearance might be complicated by his current ties to Red Bull, a move that caused tension in Dortmund, with some fans reportedly saying he was “dead to me.” That fallout could make a reunion awkward, even with the deep affection that still flows from Merseyside.

Whatever unfolds, the occasion is set to be a memorable one – two clubs united by You’ll Never Walk Alone and that legendary comeback, meeting once again at the home of footballing miracles.
