Mikey Moore understands exactly what he needs to begin delivering at Rangers, as the Tottenham youngster continues to impress on the Europa League stage.

Rangers suffered a 2-0 home defeat to AS Roma in the Europa League group stage, but Mikey Moore still delivered another encouraging performance in attack. Moore has been operating in a new role under Danny Rohl, playing as an inside forward, and the positional switch already appears to be bringing the best out of him. After a rocky start under the previous manager, the youngster is now becoming a favourite at Ibrox, and this latest display was another step in his upward trajectory.

Tottenham Hotspur will also be delighted with Moore’s progress after watching him shine against Roma. The winger caused problems for the Italian side at Ibrox, but Rangers failed to convert the opportunities he helped create. The 18-year-old’s confidence has clearly grown in recent weeks and he has been taking on more responsibility in Rohl’s system.

Moore played 81 minutes, had 35 touches, completed 14 of his 17 passes, created one big chance and completed two successful dribbles in the Europa League clash.

Tottenham had considered recalling him earlier in the season, but the club now look satisfied with the progress he is making in Scotland.

Moore has admitted himself that he wants to start adding goals and assists to his game, after producing two assists in 16 appearances so far. Speaking after the Roma match, he told Rangers TV: “I think we had chances, but including myself, I need to start scoring and assisting. We were a lot better in the second half, both out of possession and in possession, but in the end it wasn’t enough.”

Rangers return to action on Sunday when they face Dundee in the Scottish Premiership, and Moore will be looking to maintain his form and push closer to contributing directly with goals and assists.
