Pep Guardiola has revealed that Rodri may still not be ready to face Liverpool this weekend, suggesting that Manchester City could use the upcoming international break to help the midfielder regain full fitness.

“We’ll see tomorrow, but I think we won’t take a risk,” Guardiola said during his pre-match press conference.

“With the international break coming, we can wait until he feels strong and fully fit, able to handle the demands of the game properly. The most important part of the season is still ahead, and we need him.”

The City boss went on to emphasize Rodri’s importance to the team:
“We’re still without a Ballon d’Or winner, a hugely important player for us, and we’re desperate to have him back. But Nico (Gonzalez) is really stepping up and becoming an important player right now.”
