Liverpool have found a potential replacement for Ibrahima Konaté as the defender moves closer to leaving the club.

Konstantinos Koulierakis has quickly become one of Europe’s most in-demand young defenders, with several top clubs ready to challenge Wolfsburg’s determination to keep him when the January transfer window opens.

The 21-year-old Greek centre-back has been one of the standout performers in the Bundesliga this season, earning widespread praise for his defensive intelligence, aerial ability, and composure on the ball. Since joining Wolfsburg from PAOK Thessaloniki, he has made 11 appearances and firmly established himself as a key player.

According to sources close to the agents’ circle, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs keeping a close eye on Koulierakis. Liverpool manager Arne Slot reportedly sees him as a possible long-term successor to Ibrahima Konaté, whose future at Anfield remains uncertain amid links to Bayern Munich.

Liverpool scouts have been following Koulierakis for months, impressed by his positioning, reading of the game, and ability to play out from the back. Tottenham are also monitoring him as part of their defensive rebuild, with Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven currently their main pairing.

Spurs’ recruitment team are said to be assessing three key targets — Jarrad Branthwaite, Eric García, and Koulierakis — to strengthen their defensive depth. Meanwhile, both Inter Milan and Juventus are tracking the Greek international’s progress. Inter are planning for life after veterans Francesco Acerbi and Stefan de Vrij, while Juventus want a left-footed partner for Bremer.
