“Get rid” – Tottenham fans blast goalkeeper as ‘absolute liability’ after costly mistake against Man United

Tottenham fans have turned on one of their own after the 2-2 draw with Manchester United, blaming him for the goals conceded at home on Saturday.
Bryan Mbeumo put United ahead just after the half-hour mark with a precise header, before Spurs fought back in the second half. Mathys Tel levelled the score late on, and Richarlison thought he’d sealed a dramatic win in stoppage time — only for Matthijs de Ligt to snatch a point for United with a last-gasp header from a corner.
While Brennan Johnson came under fire for his display, much of the criticism was directed at goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, who fans felt was at fault for the late equaliser.
The Italian shot-stopper, who joined Spurs in June 2023, has yet to fully convince supporters after a previous blunder against Brighton. Against United, Vicario conceded twice from the visitors’ only two shots on target, posting just 66% pass accuracy and struggling to deal with crosses — making only one high claim all game.
His hesitation to come off his line for De Ligt’s header proved costly, drawing heavy backlash online. One fan wrote on X:
> “Vicario is one of many that need upgrading — great shot-stopper, but a liability from set pieces.”
Another added:
“Vicario was trolling for that goal. The header was crawling in and he still stepped back instead of attacking it.”

What a lot of nonsense, all the fans near me (and me) recognised that BOTH headers came from unmarked players ffs….
Anybody who knows football could see that.
