Liverpool manager Arne Slot has overseen seven losses in their last ten matches, following a 3-0 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday.

Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Slot’s position after the heavy loss at the Etihad Stadium.

Liverpool had shown signs of recovery with impressive victories over Aston Villa and Real Madrid at Anfield, but they struggled against Pep Guardiola in his 1000th managerial game. Erling Haaland scored first after missing a penalty, followed by long-range strikes from Nico Gonzalez and Jeremy Doku. Meanwhile, Virgil van Dijk’s goal was controversially disallowed due to an “obvious action” by an offside Andy Robertson.

The Reds didn’t register a shot on target until the 75th minute, leaving them eighth in the Premier League, eight points behind Arsenal after 11 matches. Their record now stands at seven defeats in the last ten games across all competitions, with fans at the Etihad chanting “sacked in the morning” at Slot.

Despite Liverpool spending a record £446 million in the summer on players like Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak, Romano insists the club remains fully behind Slot and has no plans to pursue a new manager.

“Liverpool are facing a very challenging moment in the Premier League,” Romano said in his latest YouTube update. “Even after some good recent results, they struggled against Manchester City and suffered a 3-0 defeat. They’ve already lost more games this season than last, despite major summer signings.

“But the message is clear: Liverpool continue to back Arne Slot. The club trusts him to turn things around and is not in contact with any other managers or representatives. Confidence in Slot remains strong.”

After the international break, Liverpool will host Nottingham Forest on 22 November, play PSV in the Champions League, and then visit West Ham on 30 November. Slot, who signed a three-year deal in 2024, led Liverpool to the Premier League title in his first season.
