Florian Wirtz has responded defiantly on Instagram following Liverpool’s seventh defeat of the season.

The Reds suffered a 3-0 loss to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, a result that dropped them to eighth in the Premier League table. After the match, Gary Neville was critical of Wirtz’s display, claiming the 22-year-old “looked like a little boy” when up against Pep Guardiola’s dominant midfield.

Since arriving from Bayer Leverkusen in a £116 million deal last summer, the German international has struggled to find his footing at Anfield, going 16 matches without a goal under Arne Slot.

A message of determination
On Monday night, Wirtz took to his Instagram story to share a powerful response. Posting a photo of himself playing in the heavy Manchester rain, Liverpool’s No.7 wrote a simple but determined three-word message: “We keep going!”

Still much more to come from Wirtz
The young midfielder is clearly aware of the growing criticism surrounding his performances, some of which many fans feel has been overly harsh. While supporters would have hoped to see him open his goal account by now, his effort and commitment on the pitch can’t be questioned—especially after his standout display in Liverpool’s recent victory over Real Madrid.

For now, Wirtz’s attention turns to international duty with Germany as they look to secure World Cup qualification under Julian Nagelsmann. Success with his national team could give him the perfect boost heading back to Merseyside, where he’ll be eager to rediscover his best form.

Liverpool fans haven’t yet witnessed the full potential of their new No.7, but Wirtz’s message makes one thing clear—he’s determined to silence his critics and prove his worth in a red shirt.
