Michael Oliver, who was in charge of VAR for Sunday’s match, has faced criticism from supporters for not advising referee Chris Kavanagh to review the incident on the pitchside monitor. After the game, Liverpool boss Arne Slot insisted it was “obvious and clear that the wrong decision has been made,” adding that Robertson “didn’t interfere at all with what the goalkeeper could do.”

Virgil van Dijk also voiced his frustration after the match, saying, “I think the goal should have stood. The explanation was that the goalkeeper was hindered or something like that? But someone showed me a clip of Manchester City scoring against Wolves last year with the same referee.”
