Heung-min Son addresses speculation over potential winter loan return to Tottenham
It’s now been over three months since Heung-min Son brought his ten-year spell at Tottenham Hotspur to an end.
The former Spurs captain signed off in the perfect way — by lifting the Europa League trophy — and has since made a flying start at LAFC, scoring 10 goals and providing three assists in just 12 MLS appearances.
Because Major League Soccer follows a calendar-year schedule, there has been speculation that Son could return to Europe on loan during the off-season, with Tottenham mentioned as a possible destination.
However, the South Korean star has firmly dismissed those rumours, making it clear he has no plans to leave LAFC anytime soon.
Speaking to TV Chosun, Son said:
> “I’ve never spoken to any club about a winter move — those reports are completely false. What matters most to me is respecting my club and giving everything where I play. That won’t change.
I won’t leave LAFC this winter or ever while I’m here. I have deep respect for this club, and as long as I wear this badge, there will be no talk of loans or transfers. Never.
I know fans can get confused by rumours, but those stories aren’t true — and honestly, it’s disrespectful to my team to even discuss them. I love this club and everyone here.”
For Tottenham, Son’s stance might actually be a blessing in disguise. Despite his valuable contributions last season, the 32-year-old had clearly reached the twilight of his career, and he departed on a high note with silverware.
Now, Spurs must turn their attention to the transfer market to find a new winger capable of developing into the club’s next long-term star.
