Thomas Frank could tempt a “great player” to join Spurs — “I’m sure talks are already happening.”

Thomas Frank is being urged to make a key attacking signing in January to revive Tottenham’s form in front of goal.

Spurs’ 2-2 draw with Manchester United leaves them fifth in the Premier League heading into the international break, but their 1-0 loss to Chelsea the previous week sparked anger among fans over the lack of attacking creativity — the team produced an expected goals total of just 0.11.

With Dominic Solanke sidelined and Richarlison struggling for form, Frank is expected to strengthen his forward line in the upcoming window. One name being strongly linked is Ivan Toney, who is currently playing in Saudi Arabia.

Speaking to Sky Sports on 11 November, former Spurs winger David Bentley said Toney should reunite with Frank at Tottenham, having thrived under him at Brentford.

He’s a great player — scoring goals in the Premier League isn’t easy, but the way he did it, his composure on the ball, and his overall play make him top class,” Bentley said. “Tottenham under Thomas Frank would be perfect for him. They worked so well together at Brentford, and I’m sure that’s where he should go.

During his time under Frank at Brentford, Toney made 141 appearances, scoring 72 goals and providing 23 assists in all competitions.

Bentley added, “Spurs are short of reliable centre-forwards right now — Solanke’s injured and Richarlison hasn’t hit the level required. A January loan move for Toney would be ideal. If he wants to get back into the England squad, it’s not about money; it’s about playing regularly and showing his quality. Tottenham would be the perfect place for that.”

However, Football Insider reports that Spurs can only pursue Toney if either Solanke or Richarlison leave the club. Richarlison has been linked with a return to former side Everton, who are also looking for a proven striker and could rival Tottenham for Toney’s signature in January.
