The summer arrival from Bayer Leverkusen is still searching for his first Premier League goal or assist after 11 appearances. According to Opta Analyst, Wirtz has created 16 chances and taken 12 shots, yet has zero goal contributions to show for it.
In fact, the German playmaker currently leads the league for the most shot involvements without registering a single goal or assist — an unwanted record that sums up his frustrating start at Anfield.
While there have been flashes of quality and moments of bad luck, supporters will no doubt be worried by his ongoing dry spell.
Can Wirtz turn things around?
There are indications that the issue isn’t entirely down to Wirtz himself. Liverpool have struggled collectively this season, with key players underperforming across the pitch.
Mohamed Salah’s sharp dip in form has surprised many — the Egyptian, who was electric last season, has managed just four goals and two assists in 11 league outings.

Nagelsmann defends Wirtz amid Liverpool woes
Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann has leapt to Wirtz’s defence, suggesting Liverpool’s current instability hasn’t helped the 22-year-old find his rhythm.
Nagelsmann, who continues to view Wirtz as a key figure for the national team, believes things will eventually click for him at Anfield — provided his teammates give him more support.
“Liverpool could help him out by putting away some of the chances he creates,” Nagelsmann told Sky Sports. “They just don’t seem to like finishing them off.
“To be honest, the overall situation doesn’t make it easy for Flo either. The whole club isn’t as stable this year as it was before, and that makes it harder for him to settle.
“If you watched the game against Manchester City, they were clearly the weaker team over 90 minutes. So it’s difficult for Flo to make a big impact right now.
“In the end, he just needs a bit more time — and that’s normal. You see it with plenty of other players when they first move to the Premier League.”
