Tottenham identify £60m-rated Premier League winger with four goals this season as alternative to Rodrygo

A new report has revealed Tottenham’s latest approach to signing a wide forward, with Real Madrid’s Rodrygo among their long-term targets.

Over the past month, several wide players have been linked with a move to North London, as Thomas Frank’s side look to strengthen that area in January. Spurs were previously prepared to invest heavily in Morgan Rogers, but that option is off the table after the 23-year-old signed a new deal with Aston Villa.

Some reports suggested Tottenham were leading the race for Rodrygo following their failed summer pursuit of the Brazilian, but attention now appears to be shifting toward another name.

According to journalist Pete O’Rourke via Football Insider, Frank has told the Spurs board to prioritise the addition of a new wide forward in the upcoming transfer window. He added that the Danish manager had already wanted another winger last summer, but the club couldn’t finalise a deal.

While Tottenham still admire Rodrygo, O’Rourke notes that signing him mid-season would be extremely difficult — echoing reports from Florian Plettenberg that Spurs cannot meet the Real Madrid star’s wage demands.

As a result, Tottenham could instead move for Everton winger Iliman Ndiaye, who has impressed early in the campaign. Although Everton are reluctant to part with the Senegal international, Spurs are continuing to monitor him closely.

Other outlets have also reported Tottenham’s growing interest in Ndiaye. Recently, journalist Dean Jones suggested that Spurs may shift their full focus to the 24-year-old after missing out on Rogers.

However, any potential deal will not come cheap — with reports indicating that Tottenham would need to pay more than £60 million, and Everton’s valuation could continue to rise if Ndiaye maintains his strong form.
