Ademola Lookman was on Tottenham’s radar last summer, but a deal failed to materialise as Atalanta demanded a permanent transfer while Spurs preferred a loan arrangement. According to TuttoJuve, the 28-year-old is now seriously considering leaving Atalanta in January, having reportedly submitted two transfer requests without success.
The Nigerian international, who finished in the Ballon d’Or top ten after Atalanta’s Europa League triumph, has faced several issues at the club. Most recently, he was involved in a near confrontation with Ivan Juric following his substitution against Marseille.
With Lookman pushing for an exit, Tottenham are closely tracking developments. However, competition is heating up, with Atletico Madrid believed to be accelerating their efforts to move ahead in the race.
Spurs weighing up Atalanta tension and €60m (£51m) claim
The report adds that Atletico are preparing a €60m (£51m) bid and have already initiated contact with Lookman’s camp, aiming to take advantage of the strained relationship between player and club.
That figure may also reflect Atalanta’s attempt to apply pressure on Tottenham and other suitors. A €60m valuation appears steep at this stage, especially with Lookman under contract until 2027.
While a bargain deal could be possible and potentially worthwhile, Spurs are unlikely to be dragged into a bidding war fuelled by Atletico’s stance.
